About Gena

Gena is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and follower of Christ whose life reflects a deep commitment to faith, family, and ministry. She and her husband, Dan, have been married for over four decades and are the proud parents of four adult children. Known affectionately as “Gigi” and “Pops,” they cherish their growing family of eleven grandchildren, with another expected in the summer of 2026.

Originally from the Texas Panhandle, Gena and her family relocated to Katy, Texas, in 1998. Over the years, she has faithfully invested in ministry through teaching adult Bible studies, mentoring youth, and developing children’s and Vacation Bible School curriculum. She also served as the Director of Children’s Ministry at the West Campus of Second Baptist Church.

In 2010, Dan’s work took their family to Doha, Qatar, where Gena embraced new opportunities for global ministry. During more than a decade in the Middle East, she ministered to women from diverse cultures and had the privilege of teaching in cities across the region and beyond, including Delhi, various parts of Italy, Uganda, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Jordan.

After returning to the Houston area in 2023, Gena and Dan reestablished their roots while celebrating the joy of welcoming four new grandchildren that same year. They are now active members of South Main Baptist Church in downtown Houston, where they continue to worship and serve.

Gena holds a Master of Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry (DMin) at Baylor University’s Truett Seminary. From an early age, she developed a deep love for Scripture—and for the Author of it.  Today, her greatest joy is sharing the truth and richness of His Word and encouraging others to walk in His grace.
